Abandoned Boat Left In Oregon City; Police Seek Owner

A trash-filled '88 Bayliner with no engine was found slowly sinking on the Willamette River near Sportcraft Landing Moorages on Sunday.

OREGON CITY, OR — The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office is looking for any and all information related to a trash-filled boat that was found (sort of) floating in the Willamette River Sunday morning.

Marine patrol deputies were dispatched to Sportcraft Landing Moorages at 1042 and 1701 Clackamette Dr. in Oregon City after receiving reports of an abandoned boat June 24.

According to sheriff's officials, deputies at the scene found a 1988 Bayliner covered in a silver tarp and slowing sinking. Under the tarp deputies discovered the boat was filled with random household garbage and construction waste. Additionally, the boat's engine had been removed.

While witnesses said the boat may have been put there as early as Saturday afternoon, the person to whom the boat belongs remains a mystery because all the identifying numbers on the vessel were reportedly rubbed away.
