Cook takes over as new CCC president

Oregon City native Tim Cook took over Monday as the new president of Clackamas Community College. He replaced Joanne Truesdell, who served as president since 2007.
Cook graduated from Oregon City High School in 1986. He attended summer day camp at the college as a child and participated in track and cross-country meets there.
"I still remember vividly what it felt like to step on the campus and go to my first classes," Cook said. "I had doubts about whether I belonged, whether I was smart enough to handle college."
Cook comes to the college after working for 21 years at Clark College in Vancouver, Wash., as an instructor, counselor, dean and chief academic officer. As the chief academic officer at Clark College, Cook led a team of more than 600 faculty and staff, oversaw 120 degrees and programs and managed a budget of $38 million.
Cook earned a doctorate in community college leadership from Oregon State University. He holds a master's degree in counseling psychology from Lewis & Clark College and a bachelor's degree in English from Western Oregon University.
