File for a Special District position by March 21!


Have you ever wanted to be more involved with the decision-making process for your community? Got an inkling to run for public office?

This coming May brings Special District board elections! There are 143 open positions on 45 different boards in #ClackCo. These volunteer positions are extremely influential in shaping how our local districts operate. Board members help guide our school districts, fire districts, water districts, and more!

Many individuals use these positions to start their career in public service. Watch a video featuring #ClackCo Commissioner Paul Savas talking about his experience on a service board (apologies that the first 10 seconds got cut off). The filing deadline for county residents to submit their names is 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 21. Look up which districts and positions you are eligible to run for. You can also call the Elections Office at 503-655-8510 to confirm eligibility.

Gary Schmidt appointed #ClackCo Administrator

Gary Schmidt appointed #ClackCo Administrator  #ClackCo Commissioners have appointed Gary Schmidt ( above left ) as the next County Administrator. Schmidt replaces Donald Krupp ( above right ), who retired at the end of January.  Schmidt has served as #ClackCo Public and Government Affairs Director since 2011. Schmidt will begin his new role on Feb. 25. "Gary is a lifelong resident of Clackamas County who brings a wealth of internal experience and knowledge about our county," said Clackamas County Chair Jim Bernard. "He is well positioned to continue the incredible progress we have made over the past several years."
