Level 3 Fire Restrictions

The Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) – Molalla Unit has issued a Level 3 Fire Warning for the North Cascade District, effective tonight just after midnight.

The district covers the majority of Clackamas County east of I-5/I-205 and all county parks and forestland properties. This includes the three county parks that feature recreational vehicle (RV) camping sites – Barton Park, Feyrer Park and Metzler Park. Restrictions at county parks and forest lands include:

·    All campfires, warming fires, cooking fires and the use of charcoal briquettes are prohibited.
·    Campers are permitted to use portable cooking stoves with liquefied or bottled fuels only.
·    Temporary road closures will be placed on county forestland properties consistent with road closure notices on adjacent private industrial forestland. Road closure and fire danger signs will be posted at the gates.
·    Dumpstoppers crew and Dumpstoppers deputy will monitor for fire on our county forestlands.

The forecasted high temperatures and low humidity, along with extremely dry conditions, will likely keep the Level 3 Fire Warning in place through the weekend.

ODF provides jurisdiction over Clackamas County parks as regulated public facilities. Fire districts will be issuing their own fire danger warnings for extreme fire conditions.

Clackamas County parks and forest staff will maintain direct communication with ODF during these high and extreme fire levels.
