New name and hours for Mental Health Center

New name and hours for Mental Health Center The Clackamas County Mental Health Center continues to provide the same great service as it has for four years, and will do so under a new name and slightly different hours. Formerly known as the Riverstone Clinic, the Mental Health Center (Clackamas MHC), is a supportive place where people in crisis can talk to a counselor or peer support advocate for information, resources, treatment and support.  Behavioral Health Director Mary Rumbaugh believes that the name change better reflects the programs housed at the center and is a small step toward reducing the stigma around mental health.  “In addition to our crisis line and urgent walk-in services, we offer peer delivered services, community outreach, involuntary commitment and a place for community partners to host trainings or support groups,” Rumbaugh sa...

Public comment invited on proposed amendments to limit marijuana production licenses Clackamas County is proposing amendments to its Zoning and Development Ordinance (ZDO) that, if approved, would limit the number of marijuana production licenses permitted on a tract of land in three specific zoning districts. Clackamas County’s Veterans Advisory Council reports on critical issues affecting vets and their families The Clackamas County Veterans Advisory Council recently released its Annual Report to the Community for the 2017-2018 fiscal year providing a recent snapshot of issues, goals, and strategies that are key to veterans’ success. The council measures its effectiveness by tracking key benchmarks that address critical needs of veterans, which include education, family support, employment, housing and mental health. The council then identifies strategies for improvement with help from community partners, elected officials, veterans and their families. Find the goals and measurements in the full report. Small Grants Program awards $300K to serve vulnerable populations Small Grants Program awards $300K to serve vulnerable populations Clackamas County Commissioners have announced the recipient organizations of $300,000 for the 2018 Small Grants Program.  This is the 10th consecutive year Clackamas County has offered this critical program to help local nonprofits that provide services to vulnerable populations living within the county.  The $300,000 is a $50,000 increase from previous years.
