Volunteers needed to help crime victims Training starts mid-February The Clackamas County District Attorney’s office is looking for volunteer Victim Advocates who are interested in helping victims of crime.  Victim Advocates have the unique privilege of providing crisis intervention and follow-up support to people who are experiencing trauma caused by crime. Advocates respond to hospitals and police stations, keep victims informed of their case status, accompany victims to court (as needed), and support them in exercising their rights under Oregon law.  People who succeed in this role are: ·     passionate about helping others ·     empathetic ·     good listeners  ·     enjoy problem-solving “Being the victim of a crime...

Scam leads to Oregon City family's life savings being wired overseas The FBI said it traced the money through five banks and it is out of the country. Author:  KGW Staff Published:  6:14 PM PST December 12, 2018 Updated:  7:20 PM PST December 12, 2018 OREGON CITY, Ore — An Oregon City family who fell victim to a sophisticated email scam and is out $123,000 has no hope of getting the money back. Aaron Cole told KGW that the FBI traced the money through five banks and it is out of the country. Cole and his family sold their house in Oregon City and found a new, bigger home for their kids. WFG National Title Insurance Company, said it would be sending Cole instructions to wire a $123,000 down payment on the new house. The next day, Cole got an email with wiring instructions. Woman hit by car, left lying in road in Oregon City Mindy Ashbaugh, 37, was rushed to OHSU in critical condition OREGON CITY, Ore. (KOIN) -- A woman is in the hospital after being hit by a car while crossing an intersection in Oregon City Wednesday night.  Mindy Ashbaugh was found by police officers around 10:15 p.m. at the intersection of Molalla Avenue and Gaffney Lane.  The 37-year-old woman was lying in the road when officers arrived. She was taken to OHSU in critical condition. OHSU said Thursday evening that Ashbaugh's condition had improved to serious.  A woman was hit by a car while crossing the intersection of Molalla Avenue and Gaffney Lanein Oregon City, Dec. 13, 2018 (KOIN)  Oregon City Police are looking for the person who hit her. Canby Ferry will close Dec. 24-Jan. 1 for maintenance The Canby Ferry will be closed Monday, Dec. 24 through Tuesday, Jan. 1 for maintenance. The ferry will resume service on Wednesday, Jan. 2.  The ferry crosses the Willamette River between Canby and Wilsonville. It runs seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. except on major holidays and when the water level rises to 70 feet or higher. Clackamas County to celebrate swearing in of newly-elected officials Jan. 7 The ceremony honoring the swearing in of newly-elected officials in Clackamas County will be held at 5 p.m., Monday, Jan. 7, 2019 in Room 409 of the Public Services Building, 2051 Kaen Road, Oregon City. Clackamas County seeks volunteers for 2019 homeless count The biennial  Point-In-Time Count , which identifies people experiencing homelessness or inadequate housing, will take place in January 2019. Clackamas County is seeking volunteers to help staff canvas the county to count persons who are unsheltered – sleeping outdoors, in camps, on the street, in vehicles, abandoned buildings, barns, sheds or other places not meant for people to sleep.
