The Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) – Molalla Unit has issued a Level 3 Fire Warning for the North Cascade District, effective tonight just after midnight.  The district covers the majority of Clackamas County east of I-5/I-205 and all county parks and forestland properties. By  News Desk,  News Partner   |  Jul 19, 2018 5:04 pm ET  | Updated  Jul 19, 2018 5:42 pm ET ACROSS OREGON - From Oregon Parks & Recreation: Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) is prohibiting all campfires and open flames in all state park properties effective 10 a.m. today. The ban is in response to Gov. Brown's declaration of a fire emergency. The campfire and open flame ban includes campgrounds, day-use areas, and all areas of the Ocean Shore and beaches managed by OPRD. The fire ban applies to wood, charcoal, and other flame sources that cannot be turned off with a valve. Liquid fuel stoves or cooking devices that can be turned off with a valve are permitted, but cannot be left unattended. Public invited to weigh in on preferred gateway signs for Clackamas Regional Center area Over the next three years, the Clackamas Regional Center Mobility Improvement Project will complete more than 30 individual transportation improvements needed in the Clackamas Regional Center area by the county’s Development Agency.   These improvements are designed to reduce congestion, improve safety, and provide better connections for all travelers, including pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists and transit riders, including widened roads and intersections, new bike and pedestrian paths and crossings, added bus stops, and improved street lighting and drainage.   With extensive improvements on the way, the project team is working to design features to help identify the Clackamas Regional Center as a special place to live, work and shop. Fire warning triggers restrictions in county parks, forests The Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) – Molalla Unit has issued a Level 2 Fire Warning for the North Cascade District.  The district covers the majority of Clackamas County east of I-5/I-205 and all county parks and forestland properties. This includes the three county parks that feature recreational vehicle (RV) camping sites – Barton Park, Feyrer Park and Metzler Park. Restrictions at county parks and forest lands include: ·     Campfires must be contained only within metal fire rings and fire pits ·     Firewood must be contained within the metal fire ring and fire pit ·     Campfire flame height is limited to 12 inches ·     No unattended campfires allowed ODF provides jurisdiction over Clackamas County parks as regulated public facilities. By  Travis Loose,  Patch Staff   |  Jul  10, 2018 12:57 pm ET OREGON CITY, OR — Of the 36 drivers who were stopped during a 4-hour pedestrian safety operation in Oregon City last week, 25 were issued citations, nine were given warnings, and one person was arrested. The July 6 safety operation at the intersection of Seventh and John Adams streets, next to Carnegie Park and the library, was the first pedestrian decoy operation funded by an Oregon Impact grant to be conducted in Oregon City this year. And while 36 individual traffic stops may seem high, it doesn't beat  the 43 stops and more than 60 citations  issued during a 4-hour operation at the same intersection in August 2017.
