Canby Ferry's future depends on reducing annual $400K deficit; idea of new bridge in ferry location set aside

Last month at a listening session in Canby, the Board of County Commissioners heard feedback from the community that included ways to reduce the funding gap for operating the Canby Ferry. The board decided to remove the possibility of building a bridge after receiving strong opposition from the public, but stressed that a sustainable funding strategy is needed to keep the ferry in operation. Currently, running the ferry costs #ClackCo approximately $400,000 each year.

The board will discuss options at a policy session from 1:30-2:30 p.m. next Tuesday, March 12 in the Board Hearing Room in Oregon City. The public is welcome to observe. Read more information on upcoming meetings, materials from the public meetings, and background information on the feasibility study.
